Ujjain: Divisional commissioner MB Ojha held a meeting in view of the preparatory work for the Kshipra purification campaign on Thursday. An emotional Ojha, stated that no stone would be left unturned to purify the river fully. “Not a drop of dirty water will be allowed to contaminate the holy river and no one will be allowed to make the water muddy”, he said.
The commissioner added that purification of the Kshipra was an issue related to public sentiment, so any kind of negligence was inexcusable. He called on officers concerned to be present on the banks of the river to execute the purification work, after conducting a proper survey.
He instructed that fountains should be installed for ‘aeration,’ wherever people took bath, on the shores near Kshipra. In case of a power breakdown, Ojha insisted on the immediate use of a permanent generator to purify the waters. The Ramwasa stop-dam should also be repaired, he added.
In addition, at the meeting, collector Manish Singh instructed that trash boxes kept by the municipal corporation, should be removed as spit over garbage resulted in dirty surroundings.
Therefore, collection of garbage would henceforth be done house to house, for which the number of vehicles would be increased, he added. He gave directions to complete the sewage work within a time frame as well as to complete proper management of solid waste and Muktidham related works early.
He asked the municipal engineer Hanskumar Jain to take responsibility of the task of purifying the Kshipra and complete it. Kshipra’s purification is not only an official duty but also the State’s moral and social duty, the collector said.
